Interlinings & Linings
Which interlinings and linings we use and why.
Interlining
What is interlining and when should it be used?
At Silklane we use both cotton and synthetic interlinings on our curtains and blinds.
Interlining is essentially an additional middle layer which creates a luxurious thickness to our soft furnishings. It also helps to block draughts through windows and doors providing greater thermal efficiency.

Whether you are looking to add a touch of luxury to your next project or would like the beneficial thermal effects, Interlining can be used on any curtain or roman blind project.
Lining

We use a high-quality cotton sateen lining in a chalk colour way. It is neutral and suitable as a lining for most fabrics.

Thick, durable and long lasting, our lining is suitable for all curtains, blinds, and other soft furnishing projects.
Thermal Lining
What is thermal lining and when should it be used?

Thermal lining is a specifically manufactured lining designed to replace the usual rear lining on a curtain or blind. It can be used in conjunction with interlining to provide optimal heat saving qualities.
This is most beneficial for older period properties, single glazed properties or particularly draughty doors or windows.
Blackout Lining
Blackout lining is an ideal choice in bedrooms and rooms that have a high sun exposure and is suitable for use in both curtains and roman blinds.
It can help reduce a degree of heat during the summer months and can be use alone or as an addition to interlining creating a sumptuous finish.
